Event Details

The Indonesia Nederland Society (INS), in partnership with PPI Belanda, Nuffic Southeast Asia and Garuda Indonesia, has taken the initiative to award an annual thesis prize. The main objective is to provide students and fresh graduates from Indonesian and Dutch universities with the opportunity to bring their ideas to the fore, encourage student-led research and make this research known to the public.

The theme of the inaugural edition of the Indonesia Netherlands thesis prize will be ‘regional impact’ and the content of the thesis should be related to this theme and ideally have relevance for the relation between the Netherlands and Indonesia (or ASEAN-EU). Any student or fresh graduate who has written a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis at a Dutch or Indonesian university in the past 2.5 years may participate in the contest. To make the theses of different universities, subjects and levels comparable, focus will not be on the thesis itself, but rather on a written summary and a video pitch that contestants need to send in.

The top 3 applicants will be selected by a jury consisting of representative from Indonesian and Dutch institutions and invited to present their pitch live (in person or online) during WINNER. After their presentation the jury will determine the winner. The winner of the Indonesia Nederland Thesis prize 2023 will be rewarded with a return ticket Jakarta-Amsterdam or Amsterdam-Jakarta.
