BIOGRAPHY
Prof. Dr. Freek van der Meer – University of Twente
Prof. van der Meer has done research in hydrothermal systems (Australia, Spain, Argentina) and geothermal systems (US, Kenya, Indonesia, New Zealand). He is a professor of geothermal energy at the Faculty ITC of the University of Twente where he has been chairman of the Department of Earth Science, vice dean Education and presently Dean of the Faculty. Since 2013 he is the program leader of the Geothermal Capacity Building Program-Indonesia-Netherlands (GEOCAP) with 11 partners from universities, knowledge institutions, companies and branch organisations supported by the NL Ministry of Foreign Affairs, BAPPENAS, and MEMR. He was also project director of the NUFFIC NICHE Tanzania-Netherlands Energy Project.
