
BIOGRAPHY
Marinka van der Hoeven is an assistant professor in International Health at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. She has a background in public health nutrition and infectious diseases. Her research aims to provide comprehensive insights into nutrition interventions, ranging from childhood dietary practices to advanced therapeutic strategies for intergenerational malnutrition, fostering sustainable, effective, and contextually appropriate solutions. Current research projects include the Strengthening sustainable fish food systems in Indonesia and Cambodia with innovative high-quality and affordable Ready-to-Use Fish Foods (RUFF) to Address Intergenerational malnutrition: a South-East Asian – European partnership (SEA-RUFF) and the Solutions to Enhance Health with Alternative Treatments
(SEHAT): double-blinded randomized controlled trial in Indonesia for gut microbiota-targeted treatment of severe acute malnutrition using rice bran in ready-to-use therapeutic foods.
