BIOGRAPHY
Ari Susanti is a Lecturer/Researcher at the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (1999 – present). She holds a PhD degree from Utrecht University. Her research interest stems from her curiosity to understand the linkages between natural and human systems including the relationships between human and their environments. As a forester, her focus is on the process of achieving sustainable forest management in particular and sustainable development in general. These include understanding the relationships between forest ecosystems, livelihoods, and governance systems. Her recent research aims at the restoration of disturbed forest areas by smallholders’ monoculture oil palm plantations, promoting a more circular economy and local food security by governing the forest frontiers of Indonesia.
