
BIOGRAPHY
Ahmad Nuril Huda is a researcher at Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). He received his PhD degree from Leiden’s Institute of Cultural Anthropology, with his dissertation entitled The Cinematic Santri: Youth Culture, Tradition and Technology in Muslim Indonesia. His academic interest lies at the intersection between digital anthropology, social theories, religion in everyday life, foodways culture, gender and sexuality, and the politics of image-making practices in Southeast Asia. His latest publication, Making Film as an Ethical Practice, appeared in Contemporary Islam: Dynamics of Muslim Life (2005). He is currently co-editing a book project entitled Islam, Conflict, and Political Transformation in Southeast Asia, to be published by Springer in 2026.
