Event Details
This session covers a 75-minute interactive panel discussion addressing the topics of sustainability, climate change, and disruptive technologies for cities.
Climate-change is an actual global phenomenon. In the recent years, both Asia and Europe have experienced extreme heat waves. Due to global warming, cities are more-than-ever exposed to the risks of Urban Heat Islands (UHI). Heat stresses bring dangers to the health and wellbeing of urban communities as well as the performance and safety of buildings and civil infrastructure.
During the panel discussion, researchers, educators, policy-makers, and practitioners from Indonesia and The Netherlands will discuss about actual challenges and inclusive strategies for: climate neutrality, resilience and adaptation; sustainable energy transition in urban areas; and applied digitalisation for smart cities. The discussion topics include:
- Challenges of climate resilience for vulnerable urban population;
- Vision of smart and just energy transition climate-neutral cities;
- Strategies for climate adaptation and resilience for buildings and urban spaces;
- Living lab approach for collaboration in research, education and practice.
