The cooperation between the Indonesian and Dutch governments in water management is governed by the 2022-2027 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Water, signed on June 3, 2022. This MoU outlines the collaborative efforts between Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) and the Netherlands’ Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W).
Moreover, a Center of Excellence for Water and Climate Resilience (CoE) by PUPR is established to enhance the collaboration and partnership from various stakeholders, from government, private sector, and academia.
(Youth) inclusion stands as a key aspect of this MoU and the CoE. Therefore, an initiative, referred to as the Indonesian Wave, which serves as a youth-led ecosystem for young individuals to connect, share innovative perspectives, and collectively address global challenges during the 10th World Water Forum Water Envoy and Water Resources Department PUPR.
The integration of the Wave under a formal umbrella within the Indonesian government shows a strong collaboration between both parties to increase the 3A’s that serve as key objectives & the demand for youth in the water sector:
1) Access to job opportunities;
2) Advocacy of youth involvement in the youth involvement;
3) Awareness raising and empowerment.
Join us for a dynamic workshop where students and young professionals in the water sector will come together to explore innovative ways to increase youth participation. In a collaborative environment, participants will actively engage in discussions, brainstorming sessions, and hands-on activities to design a youth-led ecosystem within the water sector. This interactive experience will foster creativity, problem-solving, and networking opportunities among young water professionals.
