This study explores potential practices of practical wisdom (phronesis), how practical wisdom might look like in an organizational setting, and what mechanisms emerged in supporting the exercise of practical wisdom in a particular industry. Empirical data acquired through semi-structured interviews with 48 employees and managers of four companies in the Indonesian mining industry was analyzed. Findings from studies on mechanisms emerged in supporting the relevance of practical wisdom in ethical decision making are also presented by offering a meaningful discussion upon “virtuous organization” where a virtuous practice is very much context dependent. This study also contributes to the provision of support for previous research which maintains the relevance of practical wisdom and SDG 12 on responsible consumption and production, but for which there has been little empirical evidence, especially in the mining industry.
