Research group leader of Marine Biodiversity at Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden
Prof. dr. Willem Renema is research group leader of Marine Biodiversity at Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden. His research focusses on the past, present and future of shallow marine tropical ecosystems. His research relies on a solid understanding of the ecology and evolution of large benthic foraminifera. He has more than 20 years of experience of research in Indonesia. Currently he is coordinator of the EU funded Marie Curie 4D-REEF (www.4d-reef.eu), a collaboration between 11 European and Indonesian research institutes, focussing on the potential of turbid reefs as refugia for coral reefs during ongoing climate change.
