BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Ing. Vincent Kalkman – How can we provide society with information on the distribution of species needed for the conservation of nature? That question is key to most of the work undertaken by Dr. Ing. Vincent Kalkman, entomologist at Naturalis Biodiversity Center. Vincent has organised numerous citizens science projects, training workshops and organised DNA-barcoding projects. Currently Vincent is actively involved in applying AI image recognition as a new tool for taxonomy and biodiversity studies. Despite working on numerous insect groups such as bumblebees, bugs and lady-beetles his main interest is in dragonflies for which he produced revisions, field guides, atlases, red lists and participated in field work in numerous Southeast Asian countries.
