BIOGRAPHY
Sabine Bolk is a Dutch researcher, curator, and artist specializing in Batik Belanda and the European influence on Indonesian batik. Since 2009, she has conducted fieldwork in Java, collaborated with museums and collectors in both Indonesia and the Netherlands, and curated exhibitions such as Masa Depan Batik – Future of Batik (2023) in Jakarta. From 2019 to 2021, she was a Research Associate at the Research Centre for Material Culture in Leiden. Sabine’s project, Retelling the History of the (Indo-) European Influence on Batik, reflects her commitment to decolonial research, education, and cross-cultural dialogue.
