BIOGRAPHY
Priadi Setyawan completed his undergraduate program at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in 2002. He worked at the Center for Marine Resources and Technology Studies UGM (2003-2005), and as a lecturer at the Yogyakarta Fisheries Academy (2005-2008). In 2008, he completed his master’s degree in Tropical Aquatic Biology at Jenderal Sudirman University with funding from the DIKTI Postgraduate Education Scholarship (BPPS). In 2018 he was again awarded a scholarship to continue his study at the doctoral stage in the field of Animal Breeding and Genomics, at Wageningen University and Research (WUR), Netherlands with a scholarship from Koepon Stichting in the Netherlands. His career as a researcher started at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries in 2010 with a focus on studies on breeding programs. In 2012 he became the coordinator of tilapia research activities at the Fish Breeding Research Institute, and conducted a series of research activities to establish salinity tolerant tilapia. An award from the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries was obtained in 2012 together with a group of tilapia research teams for the release of salinity tolerant tilapia for pond areas, which was named Srikandi tilapia. In 2019, continued tilapia breeding program activities with a high level of accuracy through BLUP analysis and genomics which are part of collaborative research between Wageningen University and Research and the Research Agency and Human Resources of Marine and Fisheries, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.
