Muhammad Ridwan Alimuddin is Alumni of Marine and Fisheries, Universitas Gadjah Mada. He is an independent researcher on Nusantara maritime traditions and Mandar culture, and the author of several books on maritime heritage. Through the Bahari Mandar Community, he organizes the Sandeq Race, Student on Sandeq, and literacy programs with Perahu Pustaka. He has also been involved in several international sailing expeditions, including the 2019 voyage of the Padewakang from Makassar to Australia, and the 2024 Bajau Sulawesi Expedition which sailed a traditional Sandeq boat around half of Sulawesi Island.
