BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Surya Suryadi, M.A. is a philologist and expert on Indonesian manuscripts, currently teaching at Leiden University, the Netherlands. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Universitas Andalas, an M.A. from Leiden University, and a Ph.D. in 2014 with a dissertation titled The Cultural Significance of the Regional Recording Industry in West Sumatra, Indonesia. His research focuses on oral traditions, literacy, regional literature, and media in Sumatra. He has published extensively in academic journals and edited volumes, including works on Minangkabau literature, Malay manuscripts, and the history of sound recording in Indonesia.
