
BIOGRAPHY
Bente Bergmans (she/her) is heritage advisor at the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands and is currently the secretary for the Colonial Collections Consortium. This is a partnership between five organizations in the Netherlands: Museum Bronbeek, NIOD, Cultural Heritage Agency, Rijksmuseum and Wereldmuseum. The consortium provides a network, exchanges knowledge, and supports the accessibility of and provenance research into collections from a colonial context.
Bergmans’ work encompasses policy making in the realm of ethics, museum collections and diversity & inclusion which she previously advanced by her work at the Dutch Museums Association. She obtained her MA in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology at the Leiden Universiteit.
