
BIOGRAPHY
Bagus Takwin is a Professor and dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Indonesia. His research focuses on self and identity, philosophy of psychology, social justice, well-being and positive institutions. He has been involved in many research projects dealing with socio-psychological phenomena, including inequality perception in 34 provinces in Indonesia, index of democracy measurement and subjective well-being based on democracy. On the side, he has published 13 books (in Bahasa Indonesia), among them a personality analysis of former president Soeharto and politician Fuad Hassan. Since 2020, he joined Cognition, Affect and Wellbeing research group which focus on exploration of the connection between cognition and affect in supporting mental health, positive interpersonal relation- ship, well-being and human welfare. Currently (2021–2025) together with Dr. Edwin de Jong from Radboud University, he is heading the interdisciplinary program “Resilient Indonesian Slums Envisioned (RISE): Building an inclusive governance with people and water to make social-ecological interactions more resilient to water-related disasters,” financed by NWO-WOTRO/RISTEK-BRIN.
