
BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Atit Kanti is director of Research Center for Biology of Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) since 2019. She was born in Bandung, November 2, 1968. She obtained master degree on microbial systematic from Tokyo University of Agriculture, Japan in 200, and doctor degree from IPB Bogor University in the field of microbiology. She was awarded the highest student achievement by Tokyo University of Agriculture Japan. After graduation, she plays important role on exploring the microbial diversity of Indonesian resources, and proposed many new species of yeast from Indonesian resources. All microbial collections obtained are well preserved and ready for distribution to promote microbial taxonomy research and bio-prospecting project. She is a pioneer on establishing internationally standardized culture collection in Indonesia, and proposes a new national regulation on microbial resources management.
