76% of Indonesians know little or never heard about climate change (Yale Program on Climate Change Communication, 2023), this indicates that basic climate literacy remains quite low in Indonesia. The Indonesian national curriculum lacks adequate coverage of climate change in their educational frameworks, especially in the early age and primary levels. This is because climate change is usually treated as a standalone topic, rather than being integrated into various regular subjects like math, social science and languages to prepare students with the knowledge and cross-field skills to tackle the climate crisis.
