WINNER 2026

Competitive and Resilient Societies: Human Capital, Innovation & Sustainability

This year marks the 7th edition of WINNER – the Week of Indonesia–Netherlands Education and Research. Since its launch, WINNER has established itself as a leading platform for bilateral exchange between Indonesia and the Netherlands, bringing together researchers, educators, policymakers, and professionals who share a commitment to knowledge-driven progress. The 2026 edition takes place from 6–8 October and will once again be organised as a hybrid event, enabling participants to join on-site in both Indonesia and the Netherlands, or to attend fully online from anywhere in the world.

“Competitive and Resilient Societies: Human Capital, Innovation & Sustainability”

This year’s theme reflects a shared ambition: to build societies that are not only able to withstand the pressures of a rapidly changing world, but to thrive and compete within it. It invites contributors to think boldly about the role of education and research in shaping economies, communities, and institutions that are resilient, inclusive, and future-ready.

The conference opens on 6 October with a formal opening ceremony in Jakarta, co-hosted by the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The second day moves to a Jakarta-based university (to be confirmed), where the main programme of sessions will get underway. The final day of WINNER 2026 takes place at the Indonesia House in Amsterdam, hosted by the Indonesian Embassy in the Netherlands (KBRI Den Haag), bringing the conference to a close on Dutch soil and underscoring the truly bilateral spirit of the event.

At its core, WINNER is a space for meaningful dialogue between academia, policy, industry, and society at large. By bringing these worlds together, the conference aims to strengthen the long-standing partnership between Indonesia and the Netherlands, and to generate ideas and connections that extend well beyond the event itself.
