BIOGRAPHY
Erbi Setiawan is an Indonesian researcher and environmental engineer specializing in water management and urban environmental systems. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from IPB University and pursued a master’s in Urban Environmental Management at Wageningen University & Research (WUR), where he is currently a PhD candidate focusing on urban system engineering and water-related resilience. Professionally, he has served as an Engineer at NJS Consultant in Japan, contributed to UNESCO’s Water and Environmental Science Unit, and worked at Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) under the National Steering Committee for Water Resources. His PhD research explores improving water systems in urbanised configuration, especially in coastal areas. Beyond academia, Erbi has been active in leadership and community roles, including serving as Chairman of Mata Garuda LPDP, Secretary General of the Forum Insinyur Muda under the Indonesian Engineers Association, founder of the Water Network Initiative NGO, and currently appointed as Board of Expert of Karsa City Lab.
