Santy Kouwagam is a researcher at Leiden University’s Van Vollenhoven Institute. Her work examines how law, religion, and culture intersect in shaping care systems, social security, and access to justice in plural societies. Trained in Indonesian and comparative law, she has taught courses in comparative and European private law. She also brings experience from legal practice in Indonesia and the U.S., as well as volunteer work supporting vulnerable communities.
