BIOGRAPHY

Dr. I Made Andi Arsana is a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Geodetic Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Indonesia. In addition to his academic role, he is also the current Head of Office of International Affairs of UGM. For the position, Andi is responsible for the initiation, implementation, and evaluation of international academic collaboration between UGM and its international partners, either in education and teaching; research and publication; and community engagement. Andi was active in establishing the UK-Indonesia Consortium on Interdisciplinary Sciences where he is currently serving as a steering committee member.

Since 2017, Andi has been appointed by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an expert of the technical team of Maritime Boundary Delimitation between Indonesia and its neighboring countries.  He is also an expert at the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime affairs and Investment and the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. For his expertise in maritime issues, he was tasked as a member of the Delegation of Sherpa Meeting, High Level Panel for Sustainable Ocean Economy, New York, 2020.

Andi obtained his PhD from the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS), University of Wollongong and a master degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Andi is also an alumnus of the UN-Nippon Foundation Fellowship, a research and internship program organized by the UN Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS) in 2007.
