BIOGRAPHY

Lambertus Christiaan GRIJNS

  • Date of Birth: 26 April 1962
  • Place of Birth: Bogor, Indonesia
  • Married, three children

Currently Mr. Grijns is Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for Indonesia, Timor-Leste and ASEAN

He held the following positions in the same organization, respectively:

  • Inspector, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (2018-2019)
  • Director of the Social Development Department and Special Ambassador for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (2012-2018)
  • Inspector. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (2011 to 2012)
  • Ambassador to Nicaragua (2008 – 2011)
  • Deputy Head of Mission in Costa Rica (2005 – 2008)
  • Deputy Head of Mission in Rwanda (2001-2005)
  • Other positions in the Netherlands Diplomatic service in Vietnam (Hanoi) and the Netherlands (from 1992 until 2001)

Mr. Grijns studied Human Geography at the Free University of Amsterdam, and holds an MA degree in Urban Planning at the University of Amsterdam. He worked as PhD-student at Delft University of Technology and UNESCO/ IHE in the field of Integrated Water Management and International River Basin Administration, and worked as a trainee at the West Java Regional Development Planning Programme, Bandung (1986-1987)
