BIOGRAPHY

Cahyo Rahmadi is a researcher in Research Center for Biology, Indonesian Institute of Sciences and currently acting Head of Zoology Division (Museum Zoologicum Bogoriense). He has research interest on taxonomy especially whip spiders, cave ecology and karst management. Several new species had been described especially cave arthropod from several islands in Indonesia.  He involves in several projects on cave biodiversity inventory in Indonesia, and other countries in cooperation with foreign researchers and institutions. He contributed on caves and karst protection and management in several karst areas in Indonesia with Ministry of Environment and Forestry. He is also interested on the study and assessment of threatened speciesspecies especially cave animals.

He graduated from Faculty of Biology, Gadjah Mada University for Bachelor Degree in 2000. Doctoral degree was awarded from Faculty of Sciences and Engineering, Ibaraki University Japan in 2012.

Involvements in science community, he is now the President of Indonesian Speleological Society (ISS) and the member of IUCN Cave Invertebrate Specialist Group. For his contribution and leadership, he awarded by Marsh Award for Terrestrial Conservation Leadership in 2017.
